Twitter lanza oficialmente el API de Geotagging

En Agosto pasado, la gente de Twitter anunció que estaba trabajando en el API (Application Programming Interface) de Geotagging y ayer la misma fué lanzada oficialmente.

Los usuarios de Twitter no verán ningún cambio, solo las aplicaciones que utilizan Twitter irán implementando ese API.

En este momento ya se pueden ver algunas aplicaciones que la incluyen: Birdfeed, Seesmic Web, Foursquare, Gowalla, Twidroid, Twittelator Pro y otras.

Ahora cuando se envían tweets desde esas aplicaciones, uno puede aplicar una geoetiqueta indicando el lugar desde donde envían el tweet.

Algo importante a tener en cuenta es que por defecto, geotagging está deshabilitado, por lo que para utilizarlo, el usuario deberá por aceptar su utilización.  Algo que es lógico por el tema de la privacidad.
